Reviewed: Gabriella 80 Denier Microfibre Opaque Tights

TightsPetite are a new UK based startup, with a mission to provide customers with an effortless, straightforward, time-saving hosiery shopping experience.

You can still read Part 1 and Part 2 of our interview with Virag Fejeregyhazi, operations manager at TightsPetite.

TightsPetite sent us a selection of tights by the Polish Gabriella brand to trial and review.

Our first review is of the Gabriella 80 Denier Microfibre Opaque Tights.

Packaging is simple and sturdy but also elegant.

The tights are folded over a card rectangle, then protected by a cellophane bag. Everything is then housed in a robust card envelope.

Material and features

TightsPetite describe the Gabriella 80 Denier Microfibre Opaque Tights as:

“Extra comfort and cosy de luxe tights with stunning colours. Made with a strong fabric yet resulting in a surprisingly light product.”
The 80 denier tights are made from 85% Polyamide and 15% Elastane.

The yarn has a very smooth feel. Opaque coverage is almost total and is even on the leg. Appearance is mainly matt although the tights have a slight shine when caught in the light.

The tights have good stretch and the high Elastane content give a lovely close, snug fit on the leg. They feel quite sturdy and I am pretty sure they would stand up to extended wear.

Seams are conventional. Toes have light, almost invisible reinforcement.

The Size 5 that I trialled has a rear comfort panel. Smaller sizes have a gusset.

The brief has excellent depth and is quite roomy and stretchy – this is of course important for most male wearers.

The tights are not truly sheer to waist. When on they appear to be but closer inspection shows a barely noticeable demarcation between the top of the leg and the brief/panty.

The waistband is a generous 3cm. It provides good support without any pinching.

Fit and sizing

The Gabriella 80 Denier Microfibre Opaque Tights are available in four sizes at TightsPetite: 2, 3, 4 and 5.

I tested a pair in size 5 (XL).

The size 5 was a perfect fit for me. As you can see they will suit heights of up to 6’0″.

The tights fitted very snugly on the leg helped by the 15% Elastane content.

Once on and in position they needed barely any adjustment throughout the day.

These tights provide a really comfortable wearing experience. They are warm and also provide moderate leg compression.

I wore them with shorts and they looked great I have to say.

Colour range

The Gabriella 80 Denier Microfibre Opaque Tights are available in three colours at TightsPetite:

  • Nero (Black)
  • Chocco (Brown)
  • Carmen (Red)

I tested a pair in the Black shade.

Price and availability

The Gabriella 80 Denier Microfibre Opaque Tights are priced at just £4.90.

This is the first time we have reviewed any tights from the Gabriella brand.

They came highly recommended by TightsPetite as well as other retailers that we trust highly.

Okay, these tights do not have flat seams and the construction and design isn’t that of a premium, high end brand.

However, Gabriella have created a very good product that provides a great fit and wearing experience and they also look really good.

At the price of just £4.90 they are a bargain. If you want some great opaques that will wear well our advice is is to stock up on this style. perhaps also try the 100 Denier Microfibre opaques as well (our next Gabriella review will focus on these)
